Some Things Never Change

I've shared this video before of Alphini at about 12 weeks, settling down to what he seems to think is a gourmet dinner...

[video shows Alf as a tiny puppy, lying down all relaxed to eat his dinner while people walk around, chat, and play music in the background]

...and here he is today, at about 9 1/2 months.

[Alfie's a big boy now, but still enjoys his dinner lying down...]

...Well, if being relaxed is good for the digestion, at least he never ought to have any tummy issues!  Is it just me, or is this a little unusual?!  How does your dog eat?

Wow! The lab half of Alfie is not determining how he eats. He is so slow and relaxed. Funny.

Kyle inhales his food. It takes about one minute tops for him to finish a meal. (I should time him.) He's the best of my pups, too. Turk and Mesa both ate so fast they would throw up afterward, so we had to try various techniques to slow them down.

I cannot imagine raising a puppy that eats like Alfie. I wouldn't know what to do if I actually had to plan time for meals. hehehe :)

Remington inhales his food... he stands there while walking around his bowl... so weird! :)

My goldens would lay down too eat. But my dachshund Bubbles used to like to grab amouth full of food, walk from the kitchen too a carpeted room, sit down and eat one kibble at a time. She doesn't do that anymore as she would have food left if she walked off.

Wow, those are funny, especially Remington walking around his bowl & eating...that I'd like to see! Erin, glad to hear your goldens did this too, so Alfie may be unusual but he's not the only one to eat like this! :)

Cura has a raised bowls because she is so tall and always looked uncomfortable leaning over to eat. She is a very . . . delicate eater. I feed a mix of kibble and hand-made and she always eats her favorite items first (she LOVES cauliflower and broccoli)-- picking them out of the mix. It is really funny to watch her eat around the things she doesn't like as much in favor of the things she loves!

Haha! That is too cute! He's such a slow eater- I love how he lays down like that.

When Don hears the word breakfast or dinner he immediately starts doing puppy pushups and races around the house to his food bowl. When I say "OK" he charges to his food and gulps it down super fast, while standing up. Afterwards he looks around like "Is there any more?" then proceeds to thoroughly lick the bowl, walking around it in circles :)

Bob eats as fast as he can and as soon as he's done he'll run over to wipe his nasty wet face on you... then will burp - like 5 times - he's totally gross..

Alfie is definitely civilized! He does act like it's a gourmet meal. Hilarious!
