Nothing Escapes Them

Our dogs are so tuned in to us, it seems...sometimes I think Alfie almost knows more about me than I do about him!  Any of you ever get this feeling from your dog?

Alfie in his blue jacket & me in my blue puppyraiser shirt to match; we're in a pet store, standing in front of a bunch of dog beds...and yes, I was really in there to get him a bone!
Yes, I can read your mind:  "Going to buy the dog a bone!"

This seems to be true of everyone in our family. He always seems to know where we're going to go and what we're going to do.  Today Charissa wanted to practice whistle recall with him (he needs to have solid recall with both the Come command and the whistle).  Now, mind you, she didn't tell him this, though it goes without saying that he was watching her.  She went to get his whistle off the rack and it wasn't there.  So she asked me where it was, and I told her to look in my car.  Off she goes into the garage, rummaging around unsuccessfully...when Alfie pops in behind her, bumps her with his nose til she finally looks at him....and after getting her attention he noses the seatback, where my lanyard (whistle attached) was sort of squeezed in the crack under the headrest.  I REALLY hope his future owner can put this personality of his to good use! Dogs are so fun!

haha Bob is definitely not Alfie then - he's pretty clueless all the time. I mean - I know he knows what I'm talking about and what I want him to do but he just sits there and stares at me. He'll do whatever I want if I make a movement or something but if I'm standing there and tell him to find something or go to his bed he just stands there wagging his tail with his mouth open in a big silly grin.

Adorable Bob, he's got such a funny personality too, lol!! ;-) My problem with Alfie is he seems to read my mind, figure out what I want, and is mulling over whether or not he wants to obey, all BEFORE I can get the command out!

Alfie, you are very smart! Agree, they get so clued in to what we are doing and what is next (sometimes I think even before I know what is next).

Wow, that's amazing! Can I borrow Alfie? I lost my favorite jacket last week, and it's making me crazy because I can't find it anywhere!

Oh, Alfie, you are so wonderful! You have the makings of such an amazing guide dog. I've not yet witnessed a reliably anticipatory nature in Ruby, but the way things are going, I believe it's blossoming as she matures. Now Kiva? She has that prescient gift in spades. In fact, it's eerie. She's knows what I'm thinking, doing, planning, often before I've even made up my own mind!

Alfie, you're brillant!

We're always convinced here as well that Clive knows exactly what we are thinking!

WOW, smart K9. Maybe you can set up a booth for him at the fair or something to read people's minds and make some money for GDTx too! :D
